My Personal Thoughts On This Device

Let’s face it you don’t wear these devices because of how they make you look, so for me, comfort was a priority, and the developers of the Snorerx seemed to have taken this into consideration in the design process.

The product arrived within five days of ordering in a nicely presented box. The instructions were well written and easy to follow. The device, unlike some others, didn’t look intimidating, and I was quite looking forward to using it, although perhaps not as much as my wife was.

The Boil And Bite System

This sounds much worse than it actually is, and in a funny sort of way, I found it quite enjoyable. To make sure your device fits perfectly the SnoreRx comes with a special system. The steps are as follows

1. Put some tap water in a glass and bring it to the boil using a microwave.
2. Place the SnoreRx in the boiling water for 90 seconds
3. Remove the SnoreRx using some tongs and dip it in a bowl of tap water for a few seconds to get rid of any boiling water.
4. Place the SnoreRx device in your mouth and bite down for 30 seconds.
5. Remove the SnoreRx from your mouth and put it in the bowl of tap water again for 60 seconds to allow it to set.

This was an easy procedure to follow, and I was confident that I had done it properly. A benefit of the product used is that you can do it three times if you make a mistake, so don’t panic too much on the first try.

Now that I was confident that I had [properly set up the mouth guard part of the device, it was now time to move forward with the second part of the process. Without any manipulation of my jaw, I found the device to be very comfortable and unobtrusive to wear. There is obviously a breaking in process, as your mouth is not used to wearing a device permanently when you sleep but I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I adapted to it.

The Adjustment Mechanism

The actual procedure for adjusting the device is a little tricky to master initially, but once you get the hang of it, it is relatively easy to complete. Ironically of course once you have it setup to your individual requirements and comfort, you won’t have to adjust it any further.

For me personally this was the only part of using this device that I found involved a little bit of guesswork, and in all fairness to the device itself, this is because it offers the option of adjustment. With all of the other mouth guards you are have no option but to stick with the settings the manufacturer chose, but with the SnoreRx you can move and adjust until your heart is content. Maybe I am a persistent tinkerer, never happy unless I am changing something but I honestly believe that the best way to select the optimum setting is by trial and error. This may take you a few nights but give with a little time and persistence, I personally feel that the SnoreRx is the most comfortable and flexible product of all the devices I have tested, and as we all know that is a considerable number.

Effectiveness

The SnoreRx device gave me or should I say my wife the excellent results, with one caveat. It took a few nights of adjustment to find the optimum settings, but once this was achieved I personally found significant improvement in my sleeping patterns and awoke feeling refreshed and with more energy. There was also an initial settling in period for my mouth and jaw, but again this only lasted a few days, and now it is like second nature.

The only real negative thing I have to say about this product, and this is harsh is that there is an element or testing required to get the best fit for your mouth and snoring issues, but on the flip side the other companies don’t even offer this option so perhaps that is an unfair criticism.

I don’t believe that when it comes to snoring devices that there is one product that suits everyone. There are so many variables and tolerances that people have.
